The Battle Belongs to YHVH

The Leviathan Spirit seeks to undermine God’s authority

Job 3:8  May those who curse, curse the day—those ready to awaken Leviathan.

ָלִוְיָתָןלִ -a wreathed animal, that is, a serpent (especially the crocodile or some other large sea monster); figuratively the constellation of the dragon; also as a symbol of Babylon: - leviathan, mourning. H3882

לָוָה -A primitive root; properly to twine, that is, (by implication) to unite, to remain; also to borrow (as a form of obligation) or (causatively) to lend: - abide with, borrow (-er), cleave, join (self), lend (-er).-

Psalms 74:12-14 For God is my King from of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth. You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters. You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces, And gave him as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

Numbers 14:8-9  “…If Adonai is pleased with us, He will lead us into that land and will give it to us—a land flowing with milk and honey. Only don’t rebel against Adonai, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They will be food for us. The protection over them is gone. Adonai is with us! Do not fear them.”

Ezekiel 29:1-5  On the twelfth day of the tenth month of the tenth year, the word of Adonai came to me saying: “Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt. Prophesy against him and against all Egypt, speak and say, thus says Adonai Elohim: ‘Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh King of Egypt, the great crocodile lying in his rivers, who says: “My Nile is my own—I made it for myself.” I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales. I will haul you up from within your rivers and all the fish of your streams will stick to your scales. I will leave you in the desert—you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open field. You will not be gathered or picked up. I will give you as food for the beasts of the earth and the birds of the sky.

Isaiah 27:1  In that day Adonai will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent with His fierce, great, strong sword, Leviathan the twisted serpent! He will slay the dragon in the sea.

Three things we need to be aware of when it comes to Leviathan:

  1. It causes relationships to go “south”. This unclean spirit puts a kink in communication, it causes relationships which are going well to suddenly go poorly.

  2. It causes insomnia. People also experience headaches as well.

  3. It blocks the spiritual development of people, fatigue overcomes people.

Job 41:1-8  Can you draw out the leviathan with a hook, or hold down his tongue with a cord? Can you put a reed rope into his nose, or pierce his jaw with a thorn? Will he multiply pleas for help to you? Will he speak soft words to you? Will he make a covenant with you? Will you take him for a servant for ever? Will you play with him as with a bird? Or will you bind him for your maidens? Shall your companions bargain over him? Shall they divide him among the merchants? Can you fill his skin with barbed irons, or his head with fishing spears? Lay your hand on him, think of the battle; you will never do it again.

Matthew 10:16  Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves.

2 Corinthians 10:4-6  For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful through God for the tearing down of strongholds. We are tearing down false arguments and every high-minded thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Messiah—ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.

Isaiah 26:20  Come, my people, enter into your rooms and shut your doors around you; hide for a little moment, until the fury has passed by.

1 Peter 5:5  Likewise, you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

James 4:6-12  But He gives greater grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Therefore submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded! Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of Adonai, and He shall lift you up. Do not speak evil against one another, brethren. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the Torah and judges the Torah. But if you judge the Torah, you are not a doer of the Torah, but a judge.  There is only one lawgiver and judge—the One who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you who judges your neighbor?
