Week #9 - Vayeshev (And He Settled (or Dwelt))

Matt 22:3
John 15:15

Genesis 37:1 - 40:23
Amos 2:6 – 3:8
Acts 7:9-16

Genesis 37:1  Meanwhile Jacob had settled down where his father had lived, the land of Canaan. That’s it, it goes on to talk about JOSEPH LIFE!

Settling Your ACCOUNT  with  THE KING, YESHUA‼ Settling your accounts, Cheshbon Nephesh. Are you in debt or is your account “SETTLED”?? Contented??

Are we SETTLED in the Eretz, the Land of our FATHERS?? To be settled in the LAND, IS BECAUSE WE DEDICATE AND REDEDICATE THE TEMPLE OF YAHWEH.

WHERE IS IT TODAY??
IN THE ERETZ OF OUR FATHERS.

Contentment in Him is not Complacency.

Here are the kinds of questions that often get asked, and that we should ask ourselves today, in light of today’s Torah Portion‼

  •  What am I doing with my life?

  • How am I treating the people around me, start with my family?

  • How am I doing my work?

  • How am I fulfilling my ministry?

  • How am I relating to God?

  • How am I relating to death?

  • Is there something I should do, but am not doing?

  • Is there something that I should let go of?

  • Is there something I need to resolve?

  • Is there something or someone I need to FORGIVE?

  • What am I waiting for?

NEXT; Take an accounting of our souls,

When we examine ourselves, Cheshbon nephesh, and then ACT ON IT‼

Another type of Settling is COMPLACENCY, WHEN WE HAVE SETTLED INTO COMPLACENCY

IT BECOMES A CANCER THAT NOT ONLY WEAKENS BUT, IN TIME, DESTROYS

  • Lowers your determination

    • But… (1 Timothy 6:12)  Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

  • Lowers Gods standards

  • Lowers your morals, and behavior.

    • 2 Samuel 11:2-5 (NKJV)  And from the roof David saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. David’s complacency toward him to sin, caused him to tolerate the very thing he ounce knew better to do.

  • Lowers our level of personal expectation

  • Lowers our thinking; no responsibility, that it will be O.K.

  • Lowers our relationship with God

    • Revelation 3:15-17 (NLT) I know all the things you do; that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, I will spit you out of my mouth!

    • Hell is the end result‼!

  • Lowers our spiritual power in life

Complacency is robbing God, and his church of many energetic and consecrated, sanctified servants.

What causes us to grow complacent?

  • When the danger is past, we often forget the God who helped us.

    • Hosea 13:5-6 (NLT) I took care of you in the wilderness, in that dry and thirsty land. But when you had eaten and were satisfied, then you became proud and forgot me.

  • Not only forgetting the past, but forgetting God’s warning.

    • A warning not to forget Deuteronomy 6:10-13

  • We don’t like to move out of our comfort zone

  • We are self sufficient.

Wise is the person who remembers God daily in times of both need and prosperity. Be Thankful in All Things.

Overcome complacency with a Complete surrender, w praise, thanksgiving & humility

Understand the importance the scripture

To overcome complacency read 2 Chronicles 7:14 - “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Come let us Pray up, reach up, and wise up, so God can build us up!

TIME TO REDEDICATE THE TEMPLE OF YAH‼

CHANUKAH‼

IT IS ALL ABOUT CLEANING OUT YOUR TEMPLE AND DEDICATING IT AGAIN TO YAH.

THE MACCABEES RETURNED TO THE LAND, THEY JUST WANTED TO HAVE THE 8 DAYS OF SUKKOT. THE MIRACLE OF THE OIL IS HAVE THE LIGHT IN HIS TEMPLE.

IT’S IN YOU!

His Temple, Mishkan not made with hands!

2 Chronicles 6:18  "But can God actually live with human beings on the earth? Why, heaven itself, even the heaven of heavens, cannot contain you; so how much less this house I have built?“

The dedication of the 1st temple‼

Exodus 40:33  And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.

Exodus 40:34  Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

Exodus 40:35  And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

Exodus 40:38  For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

The dedication of the 2nd temple‼

When the Temple is being dedicated, Shlomo gives us his examples, by kneeling and lifting his hands to Yah, (2 Chronicles 6:13)

First, Shlomo begins with acknowledgement to who Yahweh is. And intimate worship and abundant praise. (Chronicles 6:14-18)

No one like You in the heavens,

He alone is the one True God.

He has Guarded all His promises and covenants.

For He Dwells with men.

2 Chronicles 6:35  Then, from heaven, hear their prayer and plea, and uphold their cause.

His prayer for MERCY… Forgiveness, forgive sin, forgive your people, Give justice, Sentence the guilty, Acquit the innocent (who is innocent?) and bring restoration. (Chronicles 6:19-27)

Yahweh knows your heart, (2 Chronicles 6:30)

Yahweh is known world-wide. (Chronicles 6:33), NO one is without sin. (Chronicles 6:36)

2 Chronicles 7:1  Now when Shlomo had made an end of praying, then fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory (KAVOD)   or the esteem (SHEKINAH) of יהוה filled the beit / house.

2 Chronicles 7:2 And the priests were unable to enter the House of יהוה, because the esteem of יהוה had filled the House of יהוה

The temple not made with Hands,

Act 2:1-2  The feast or festival of Shavu'ot arrived, and the believers all gathered together in one mind, and in one place.  Echad‼  Suddenly there came a sound from the sky like the roar of a violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

Acts 2:3-4  Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them.  They were all filled with the Ruach HaKodesh**  (Holy Spirit) and began to talk in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak.

**God is spirit, and He is HOLY… John 4:24 “Elohim (Other translations say God) is Spirit, and those who worship Him need to worship in spirit and truth.”

Rom 12:1-2  I call upon you, therefore, brothers, through the compassion of Elohim, to present your bodies a living offering – set-apart, well-pleasing to Elohim – your reasonable worship.     And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you prove what is that good and well-pleasing and perfect desire of Elohim.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are a Dwelling Place of Elohim and that the Spirit of Elohim dwells in you?

1 Corinthians 3:20 and again, “יהוה knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are worthless.”

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. The one not loving his brother stays in death. 15 Everyone hating his brother is a murderer, know that no murderer has everlasting life staying in him.

1 John 3:18 My little children, don’t love in word or in tongue, but in deed & in truth.

He Still Heals Today - James 5:14-15 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, having anointed him with oil in the Name of the Master. And the prayer of the belief shall save the sick, and the Master shall raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he shall be forgiven.

Because your Temple is being rededicated & filled with His presence , His Spirit.
