Week #47 - Shoftim (Judges)
Deuteronomy 16:18 - 21:9
September 7th, 2019
This parashah (portion) sets out rules for JUDGES, KINGS, PRIESTS, PROPHETS, CITIES OF REFUGE, WITNESSES, WAR AND UNSOLVED MURDER VICTIMS.
Our father is appointing us as judges, kings, and priests over every issue in life that comes into our realm or scope of being!
Deuteronomy 16:18 “Appoint judges and officers within all your gates, which YHVH your Elohim is giving you, according to your tribes. And they shall judge the people with righteous right-ruling. “Do not distort right-ruling. Do not show partiality, nor take a bribe (shachad, שׁחד H7810, even a gift or reward, it may have strings attached), or a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.”
As His special appointed judges we are to judge everything!!

Listen to the Shotim Sermon
Then we see that Messiah tells us in Luke 6:37, “judge not lest you will be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you shall be forgiven.”
But now we have the Dilemma…
To Judge, Torah or Not To Judge - New Testament, Brit??
We can judge all things, every situation, but NOT a Person’s Eternal Destination‼
That’s God’s job not ours‼
So we know we wrestle not with flesh and blood (PEOPLE)‼ - But we can judge the situation, the actions or the sin - but not the person’s status with God!!
I recently asked the seller of an RV about the exterior paint…
He wrote back and explained it this way… “Only an idiot would ask that question...”
I realize I was Judged, I was Insulted, I was heavily Demeaned‼
I DIDN’T LIKE IT‼
I wanted to BE VERY ANGRY, I could be very upset.
I judged him, but we have a God that sends His Spirit to us
And very quickly HE , the HS told me I was to judge the situation, not the person throwing the insults.
Even on the crucifixion Stavros (G4716 - stake, tree or branch) He said, “forgive them for they know not what they do.”
When the Pharisees, judged Him & crucified Him, He prayed for them, he could judge their actions, but not them, so He prayed for them, His enemies‼
The lessons HE teaches us are all about loving and forgiving.
Stop JUDGING GOD‼
Make sure that you are guarding & you are checking your thoughts in your mind.
Judge the influences over our families and over our children.
Make sure that we are rising above anger and taking authority over all realms, for we are about the Kingdom of God.
1 Thesalonians 5:21 But test, GUARD, (JUDGE) all things; hold fast that which is good.
Malachi 2:15 …Then GUARD, (JUDGE) your spirit…
Philippians 4:7 …and the peace of God, which surpasses every understanding, shall GUARD, (JUDGE) your hearts and your thoughts by Yeshua ha Mashiach.
Pray for your HEART‼
A Judge has learned to test the truth, test to see God’s will.
When Messiah said, “Judge not”?
Matthew 7:1. Verses 3-5 seem to bear out that one should not go around trying to straighten out the faults of others. The message is that we should first work on our own shortcomings—
A perspective borne out in 2 Corinthians 13:5, where believers are urged strongly, “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith!”
The Greek word for “judge” (G2919) is krino and can also be translated as “to pronounce an opinion concerning right and wrong,” “condemn,” “to be of opinion,” “deem,” “think”.
This certainly seems to confirm that believers should not allow themselves to form or to voice opinions about others.
Don’t give a MOTIVE for their actions, you’ll Judge that also!
This is very profound‼ “for as you judge so you will be judged, and the measure you deal out to others will be dealt out to yourselves.”
To have a critical Spirit, to complain to always look for the flesh problems is JUDGING, A very grave SIN‼
1 Corinthians 6:1-3 Should any of you, holding a matter against another, go to be judged before the unrighteous, and not before the set-apart ones?
Do you not know that the set-apart ones shall judge the world?
And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
Do you not know that we shall judge even the angels/messengers?
How much more, matters of this life?
Can we Guard our Matters of the heart and walk out His Word??
Is ALL OF Your Heart HIS??
