Pastor Curtis and a few members of our congregation share the spiritual lessons they found in this week’s Torah Portion.
After the death of Aaron’s two sons, YHVH goes right into the process of atonement - Yom Kippur!
The Spiritual Meaning of Yom Kippur:
Yom Kippur is much more than a tradition. It reflects a deep, internal state in human development.
How can we be AT-ONE, Atoned for by Yahweh??
We then start judging ourselves, Hesbon Nehpesh.
We are used to judging our actions, but what we really need to judge are our intentions, especially in relation to people. Based on bitterness, biased, prejudice, hatred, etc.
This is done partly by deeply examining the questions, “What do I really intend for other people?” and “Where am I in relation to the qualities of connection, love and bestowal?”
This action of examining our attitude towards others requires unique insight and a special light from the Ruach, Holy Spirit in this our self-examination.
In other words, if a person is left to his own devices, he will most likely fall into the common trap of self-justification, which blocks self-change.
This self-examination is the essence of what takes place on Yom Kippur.
Yom Kippur customs such as fasting, and the prohibitions on bathing, wearing perfume and leather, and marital intimacy, all symbolize the need to stop self-aimed examination.
This action requires more than “restriction”, of SELF It is for each other, THE CONCERN AND BUILDING UP OF THE BODY OF MESSIAH.
It’s all about building the bride
Leviticus 23:27 "The 10 day of this 7 month is Yom-Kippur; you are to have a holy convocation, deny yourselves, & you are to bring an offering made by fire to YHVH, יהוה”
Yom Kippur, H3725, כּפּר kippûr,- atonement.
Atonement, H3722, כּפר, kâphar - To cancel: - make atonement, cleanse, disannul, forgive,
be merciful, pacify, pardon, to pitch, purge (away), put off, (make) reconcile, restore to one state.

1 Corinthians 1:10 …brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord
Yeshua, ha Moschiach, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
Hebrews 2:17 So in every way He had to be made like His brothers, in order to become a compassionate and trustworthy High Priest in matters related to Elohim, to make Atonement for the sins of the people.
Hebrews 9:15 …He is the Mediator of a renewed covenant, so that, death having taken place for Redemption/Atonement of transgressions under the first covenant, those who are called might receive the promise of the everlasting inheritance.
