#41 - Pinchas (Phinehas) and Peace

Numbers 25:10 - 30:1

In this portion, we see Phineas/Pinchas doing a “ZEALOUS” act of violence & yet he is rewarded by Yahweh with a Covenant of Peace-Shalom. IRONIC??

Yahweh said , "he was ZEALOUS FOR YAHWEH"

"My covenant of peace shall be unto him and to his seed after him…This is because he was ZEALOUS for YAHWEH and made atonement for the children of Isra'el."

Has anyone every told you about the "Upside-Down Kingdom"?

Yeshua said that in His kingdom the first will be last and the last will be first - Matthew 20:16

"Upside-Down Kingdom“

He said that whoever wanted to be great would have to be a servant - Matthew 20: 26

"Upside-Down Kingdom“

The apostle Paul said that God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, that he chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong - 1 Corinthians 1:27

"Upside-Down“

2 Corinthians 8:9 - Yeshua/Jesus was rich, yet for our sake he became poor, so that through his poverty we would become rich..

Upside-Down“ ***Shouldn’t we  get used to the pattern??

Things that make a person important in our world become unimportant in the “Upside-Down Kingdom”.

And the things that seem weak and humble and poor — they make us better people and take us closer to the heart of God.

And yet this “Upside-Down Kingdom” has surprises. "It is better to give than to receive.“

The giving is not for the poor or the guy on the corner.

Remember,  it is an “Upside-Down Kingdom”.

Giving is for the giver. .Are you generous??

Or do you have Stingy a Heart??

Matthew 6:22  -  `The eye is the lamp of the body.' So if you have a `good eye' [that is, if you are generous] your whole body will be full of light;

Matthew 6:23 - “But if your eye is evil,1 all your body shall be darkened. If, then, the light that is within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
Footnote: 1 This is a Heḇrew idiom – a good eye means to be generous, while an evil eye means to be stingy.

NO ONE IS TO APPEAR BEFORE YAHWEH EMPTY-HANDED
Exodus 23:15, 34:20
Deuteronomy 16:16

When someone needs to be uplifted, you GIVE LIFE, don’t you?

1 Corinthians 14:12  - Likewise with you: since you eagerly seek the things of the Spirit, seek especially what will help in “BUILDING-UP”, EDIFYING the Kahol/Congregation.

Those that are weak in His KINGDOM, NEED SOMETHING‼

Revelation 3:2  -  Wake up, and strengthen what remains, before it dies too! For I have found what you are doing, You are incomplete in the sight of my God

We would assume that selfish people (“EVIL EYE” people) have a bad time in the Upside-Down Kingdom. They’re full of need and desire, and it eats them up all the time.

  • They’re jealous every time a friend has a new car or a new house.

  • Do they know how to Give? “Upside-Down Kingdom”

  • They don’t know what it means. Receiving?

  • They can’t do enough of that.

  • They have a hunger for more, and it’s the kind of hunger that rows with the feeding — the more you get the more you want.

Mark 14:7 -  For you will always have the poor with you; and whenever you want to, you can help them.

We would assume that givers are “Greatest in the KINGDOM” of the Upside-Down.

  • They’re unselfish. They Give and They sacrifice.

  • They give money, time, talent & LIFE to make the lives of other people better.

  • They have to be the greatest of the followers of Yeshua/Jesus, right?

And yes, we need givers. We need people who sacrifice, who give money and time and talent to make this world a happier place.

Without givers we’d have to retire all the missionaries, call the relief workers home…
Stop all shipments of food and medicine to the developing world, and hope that somehow everyone will survive in our "me-first" World.

We can’t do without givers. Following Yeshua has to mean sharing with those who have less. Correct??

What do you possess??

Good Eye or Evil Eye?? Generous or Stingy??

Acts 3:6 - But Kĕpha said, “I do not have silver and gold, but what I do possess, this I give you: In the Name of יהושע Messiah of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

According to Yeshua, though, we first have to roll back our grownup habits and become like children.

But Yeshua didn’t talk about children just because they’re sweet and innocent.

He talked about children because they’re bundles of need.

In his time, people didn’t have designer children, and families weren’t child-centered.

After all, a child was another mouth to feed, and you had to feed that child for years before he was old enough to milk a goat or plough a field.

Children didn’t produce anything. They couldn’t build a barn or dig a well. They would just lie around all day.

There’s just one thing they are really good at, one thing they do better than the rest of us, one lesson they can teach all of us. Yeshua referred to children because they are in Need.

They are such wonderful receivers.

That’s what we need to become.

We need to become children Hungry for Grace, Hungry FOR LOVE‼

Hungry FOR FORGIVENESS‼   Hungry FOR A NEW HEART‼

Hungry FOR GUIDANCE‼

Hungry FOR JUSTICE AND MERCY‼

Hungry FOR A HUMBLE WALK WITH YAHWEH.

When you’re a Hungry Receiver, God will meet your need.

He can’t meet your need if you’re too strong, too independent. He can only give to receivers, like children.

Hungry for WHAT??  Matthew 5:6 - “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, because they shall be filled.

Isaiah 55:1 - “Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters. You who have no silver, come, buy & eat. Come, buy wine & milk without silver and without price.

IF YOU ARE HUNGRY AND THIRSTY…

John 6:48 - “I am the bread of life,..." WHICH GIVES ETERNAL LIFE‼ Should we be FULL OF HIS LIFE??
