VaYigash - And He Drew Near
Genesis 44:18 But Judah drew near to him and said, "Please my lord, let your servant speak a word in the ears of my lord, and let not your anger burn against your servant, for you are like Pharaoh himself.”
Naw-gash H5066 - draw near, approach, pushing forward, bringing close
Bee H994 - Need, empty, sorrow, excuse me, distress, feel pain, beseeching
Aw-rab H6148 - Surety, mixing, market, exchange, barter
Pa-gah H6293 - Meet, meet intentionally, encounter, to impinge, make intercession
Intercession is praying intentionally drawing near, pushing forward, beseeching for someone (including self) which is empty, in need, feeling sorrow, distressed, in pain, becoming a surety, exchanging one life for another. (I am reminded of Hannah.)
2 Corinthians 5:21 He made the One who knew no sin to become a sin offering on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
Judah was willing to “exchange” his life for Benjamin.
Judah had a great concern for his father, Jacob.
One will travail while interceding.
It is as if one is “birthing” something.
Isaiah 53:12 Therefore I will give Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the spoil with the mighty—because He poured out His soul to death, and was counted with transgressors. For He bore the sin of many, and interceded for the transgressors.
Luke 22:44 And in His anguish, He was praying fervently; and His sweat was like drops of blood falling down on the ground.
Mixing worship and intercession
Revelation 5
Revelation 5:8 When He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense—which are the prayers of the kedoshim.
The harp represents worship.
The golden bowls full of incense obviously represent the prayers of the set apart ones.
Zechariah 14:20 In that day “Holy to Adonai” will be inscribed on the bells of the horses and the pots in House of Adonai will be like the sacred bowls in front of the altar.
