Week #3 - Lech Lecha (Get Thee Out)

The calling of Abram: Yahweh told Abram to leave his native/pagan land and his father’s house/land/inheritance for a new walk, a new land that Yahweh would show him, promising to make of him a great nation, bless those who blessed him, and curse those who cursed him. Follow Yahweh’s command, at age 75, Abram took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, and traveled to the terebinth of Moreh, (teaching) at Shechem in Canaan.

Why are we called? If we are not gathering then we are scattering!! Mt 12:30

  • Abram, H87 ם ר ב א Avram: “Exalted father.”

  • Abraham, H85 ם ה ר ב א Avraham: “Father of a multitude in Yah.”

  • Moreh, H4176 ה ר ו מ Moreh: “Teacher.” The oak tree at Shechem where Abram stopped when he first entered Canaan, close to the mountains of Ebal and Gerizim.

  • The Lord Almighty, H7706 י ּׁד ׁש El Shaddai Shadda: The Almighty (of God).

  • Covenant, H1285 ת י ר ּׁב beriyth, BRIT: Covenant, alliance, pledge, ‘exchange of lives.’

  • Tzadik-Melech, Melchizedec מ ל כ ּׁ י ־ צ ד ק ,H4442, Righteousness of King.
